Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 29.2
She had learned her lesson by now—being around Shen Jueshu meant you could never let your guard down.
Shen Jueshu’s expression darkened slightly, and her tone grew quiet but firm. “Do you want to keep being monitored?”
Sui Yu’s lips twitched. After a moment of hesitation, she handed over her phone.
She watched as Shen Jueshu tapped around on it briefly, then handed it back.
The phone looked no different. Sui Yu frowned. “That’s it? That solved it?” She’d expected something more dramatic—like tearing the phone apart!
As if reading her thoughts, Shen Jueshu added, “A few days ago, did you click on a mini program someone sent you? That was from me.”
Sui Yu: “…”
Her brain instantly connected the dots—Qin Qing had sent her a blank-looking mini program a few days ago. Out of curiosity, she’d clicked it and seen… nothing. She’d even replied with a question mark, wondering what Qin Qing meant by it.
Now it hit her.
Her expression darkened. Qin Qing had been the original Sui Yu’s assistant. Shen Jueshu hadn’t even been at the company that long, and she’d already turned Qin Qing?!
Noting that Sui Yu had clearly figured things out, Shen Jueshu didn’t explain further. Instead, she returned to the earlier topic.
“You said earlier in the hotel that this wasn’t the right place to talk. Now that we’re here, can you tell me what you meant?”
Back to the point.
Sui Yu’s expression turned more serious. On the way back, she’d thought about this. If she told Shen Jueshu directly that this world was a book, and she herself was just a character created by an author—that all of Shen Jueshu’s suffering was by design—would Shen Jueshu be able to handle that?
She imagined switching places. If she learned she was just a fictional character and her life had been scripted, she might lose her mind.
So she carefully chose her words, then spoke with hesitation. “Do you believe there are countless other parallel worlds beyond this one? I’m from one of those worlds. Something happened there, and I ended up here.”
Shen Jueshu stood, walked to the kitchen, and pulled two bottles of cold water from the fridge. She handed one to Sui Yu and asked, “So you’re saying… you’re not from this world? Then how do you know so much about me?”
Sui Yu coughed lightly, clearly uncomfortable. “When I suddenly entered this body, I inherited a small fragment of the original owner’s memories. Not much—just bits and pieces, all related to you.”
Shen Jueshu’s expression stayed calm. It was unclear how much of that she actually believed.
“If you took over her body,” she continued, “then what’s your real name?”
At that, Sui Yu grew visibly emotional. Her eyes locked onto Shen Jueshu’s as she said, “You might not believe it, but it’s the truth. In my original world, my name was also Sui Yu—and I looked exactly like this!”
She even gestured to her body, emphasizing that even their height was identical.
“I think… maybe that’s why I ended up here. Because we were so similar.”
By now, Sui Yu didn’t even know how to feel about coming to this world. Part of her was grateful. But part of her was still afraid.
Shen Jueshu opened her water bottle and took a sip. After a long silence, her voice came out soft and distant:
“Then… if you’re in her body now… where did she go?”
Most importantly, she wanted to ask—would the original Sui Yu ever come back?
But Shen Jueshu didn’t voice that question.
Yet, when faced with the inquiry she did ask, Sui Yu couldn’t answer—because she didn’t know the answer herself.
And in that moment, her silence said more than words ever could.
Shen Jueshu gave a faint, hollow smile and said nothing more.
“Actually… I think there are a lot of mysteries surrounding the original Sui Yu,” Sui Yu finally said after a long silence. “Maybe if we solve those, we’ll be able to find out where she went.”
She’d hesitated for a while before saying that aloud, because even with all her abilities, she couldn’t make sense of this mystery on her own. But if Shen Jueshu helped… maybe there was a chance.
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond immediately. She took two sips of water, then silently stood up and walked upstairs.
“Eh?”
Sui Yu blinked, confused by the sudden move. She followed her upstairs, only to see that Shen Jueshu wasn’t heading to her room—but Sui Yu’s?
Her eyes widened as she trailed behind. Standing at the door to her own bedroom, she asked, “What are you doing?”
“Can I come in?” Shen Jueshu asked calmly.
“Y-yeah… I guess,” Sui Yu replied uncertainly.
Shen Jueshu raised a hand, opened the door, and walked straight to a corner of the room. She reached up and pulled a tiny device from behind a decorative frame—then began systematically checking other corners of the room.
Sui Yu’s face darkened to charcoal. When Shen Jueshu removed the first hidden camera, she was furious. But watching her silently disable device after device… she couldn’t help but feel both exasperated and amused.
By the time Shen Jueshu stopped, Sui Yu’s voice was cold.
“Wow. I really didn’t expect this from you. Didn’t realize you had a voyeur kink. Tell me—did you install one in the bathroom too?”
Facing the accusation, Shen Jueshu calmly shook her head. “I’m not that perverted. I have no interest in your body.”
What the hell.
Sui Yu nearly exploded. Not that perverted? She just removed how many cameras?! And now she’s saying she doesn’t care?
Sui Yu flushed with both fury and embarrassment. The idea that Shen Jueshu might have seen her changing, undressing—any number of private moments—was almost too much.
Grinding her teeth, she demanded, “Where are the recordings? I want them deleted. They’ve got a lot of private moments of mine!”
She knew Shen Jueshu had issues with the original Sui Yu—but this?
“They’re already deleted,” Shen Jueshu replied.
Anything she didn’t find useful, she deleted right after reviewing.
Sui Yu ground her teeth even harder, raising her thumb sarcastically. “You really are something else.”
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond to the biting sarcasm.
But honestly, too much had happened to Sui Yu this afternoon. No matter how attractive Shen Jueshu was, she didn’t want to look at her for even a second more. After physically pushing her out of the room, she still felt so uneasy that she rechecked everything, including the bathroom.
Only after confirming there were no more hidden devices did she slump onto the bed, utterly drained. Thinking about Shen Jueshu’s actions, she couldn’t help but let out a dry laugh.
She really hadn’t expected this woman to go as far as installing surveillance in her bedroom. She had truly underestimated the version of Shen Jueshu who had returned, darkened by her past.
Letting her body go limp, she fell back onto the bed. She needed a good nap. If she kept thinking about it, she might genuinely die of anger.
Meanwhile, Shen Jueshu, now shut out, stared at the closed door for a few seconds before turning and heading back downstairs. She opened the hidden passage leading to the basement.
If Sui Yu had followed her down, she would have seen that the basement had changed completely. What once resembled a secret base now looked like a full-blown dungeon—fully equipped to imprison people.
And inside the glass enclosure now lay someone no one would have expected.
Gu Ying.
Still unconscious on the bed, his face was pale.
Shen Jueshu stood there, expressionless. She still didn’t fully understand what grudge this man had against her that made him try to manipulate Sui Yu into turning against her.
Looking around at the basement she had transformed herself—originally designed for the day she might take revenge on Sui Yu—she hadn’t imagined that its first guest would be Gu Ying.
Pulling out her phone, she tapped the screen a few times.
Suddenly, Gu Ying’s body convulsed like it had been electrocuted. His complexion turned ashen, and a pained groan escaped his lips.
