Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 27.3
Shen Jueshu looked at the woman beside her with a sigh. “Lily, did you forget you were cursing her out not too long ago?”
This same woman had been furious after learning the truth behind Shen Jueshu’s forced marriage. And now? Just a few words from Sui Yu, and she’d apparently switched sides?
“Uh—” Lily looked a little embarrassed. “Let’s not bring up the past. Don’t let her find out I ever said bad things about her.”
She glanced at Shen Jueshu’s expression—calm, as if completely unaffected. If the person involved wasn’t angry anymore, she figured there was no point in staying mad on her behalf.
Shen Jueshu shot her a flat look but didn’t respond.
After another glance toward Sui Yu, Lily asked curiously, “By the way… how did you train her? She actually let you mark her?”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Train? She hadn’t “trained” anyone!
Her expression stiffened slightly. Her voice dropped as she said, “It happened during my heat. I accidentally forced the mark on her.”
Lily’s eyes went wide. “Wait—you forced the mark?!”
Shen Jueshu shot her a look. Wasn’t that obvious?
Lily touched her chin, looking puzzled. “You sure it was forced? You’re positive she didn’t volunteer for it?”
Shen Jueshu didn’t bother answering.
But seeing her reaction only made Lily more excited. She grabbed Shen Jueshu’s hand, eyes sparkling. “Have you two ever checked your pheromone compatibility score?”
Shen Jueshu frowned slightly. “You forgot? It’s a required test before any AO marriage.”
“Then what’s your match rate?!”
“…Nine percent,” Shen Jueshu replied in a flat tone.
Lily: “…”
Her jaw almost dropped again. Only nine percent? Most random AO couples off the street scored higher than that!
She looked more confused than ever. “If she didn’t consent, and you still managed to mark her, the only explanation should’ve been a high compatibility, right?”
That was one of the frustrating truths of AO dynamics—an Alpha could forcibly mark a weaker Omega, but for an Omega to successfully mark an unwilling Alpha, their compatibility had to be exceptionally high.
Shen Jueshu met her gaze. Of course she knew this. But she and Sui Yu had taken the test. Their result was shockingly low.
Lily couldn’t wrap her head around it. She shook her head and sighed. “Well, no matter what, the fact that you marked her is still a good thing. At least now you’re not completely under her control.”
When both sides marked each other, things changed. An Alpha could influence an Omega emotionally, sure—but a marked Omega could also trigger emotional dependence in an Alpha. It was mutual.
Shen Jueshu didn’t comment. But deep down, she had to admit—marking Sui Yu did give her a sense of security she hadn’t had before.
On the other side of the restaurant, Jiang Siyue gave Sui Yu a big thumbs-up. “That’s our Ah Yu—so good at putting people in their place they could cough up blood!”
That Alpha from earlier had turned bright purple with rage. If it had gone on any longer, she honestly would’ve worried about him having a stroke.
Sui Yu snorted, flipping her bangs proudly. “Of course. Do they think they can win an argument with me? Please.”
Since arriving in this world, the only one who’d ever gotten the upper hand in a fight with her was Shen Jueshu. Everyone else? Not a chance.
Jiang Siyue applauded her. “Our Ah Yu is a top-tier Alpha!”
“Damn right!” Sui Yu grinned, fully basking in the praise.
Not far away, Shen Jueshu was still seated—and heard everything. Her expression turned oddly complicated.
She hadn’t expected Jiang Siyue to be so good at dishing out flattery, or for Sui Yu to soak it up so naturally.
Luckily, their booth was in her blind spot, so they hadn’t seen her. Otherwise, she didn’t know what kind of reaction she’d have gotten if she suddenly stood up and joined them.
Actually… What if I walked over right now? The idea came to her out of nowhere.
But after a second of imagining the awkwardness, she gave up on it. She really had nothing to say if she did go over there.
After the meal, Sui Yu and Jiang Siyue didn’t linger. They headed home—Jiang Siyue had become a busy woman now, constantly preparing for the next round of the show.
Not long after they left, Shen Jueshu and Lily left too. Shen Jueshu dropped Lily off at her hotel and said she’d arrange a time for her to meet Sui Yu soon.
By the time Shen Jueshu returned home, the lights in the villa were already on.
She walked in and saw Sui Yu sitting alone in the living room, in front of the TV, holding a game controller. No sign of Jiang Siyue.
“Where’s Miss Jiang?” Shen Jueshu asked without thinking.
“Hm?” Sui Yu was deeply focused on her game. When she heard the question, she looked up—but just then, a “Game Over” sound effect rang out from the TV.
“Ahh!” she groaned, tossing the controller aside in defeat. “She went back to her room. Said she needs to rest and recharge for the next competition.”
Shen Jueshu took off her coat, hung it by the door, and walked over to sit beside her. Looking at the frozen “You Died” screen on the TV, she asked, “You haven’t cleared this level yet?”
Sui Yu slumped into the couch, sighing. “Nope. Still stuck.”
She didn’t know why it was so hard. Every time she got close to the end, she’d mess up and die.
Shen Jueshu reached over, picked up the controller, and hit the “start” button.
Seeing this, Sui Yu shot up like she’d been electrified, eyes wide. “Wait—you play video games?!”
Judging by her gameplay, she wasn’t just casually good—Shen Jueshu actually played quite well.
Without taking her eyes off the screen, Shen Jueshu said in a calm voice, “Surprised?”
Sui Yu: “…”
If I weren’t surprised, would I be asking like that?
“Back when I was under a lot of pressure, I’d play games occasionally to relieve stress,” Shen Jueshu added, as if explaining something trivial.
Sui Yu scratched her head in disbelief. Shen Jueshu gets stressed?
She had always thought of her as some kind of divine being—completely in control, too composed to seem human most of the time.
But not long after, the sound of a game completion chime rang out from the TV. Sui Yu’s expression went blank.
She—someone who played games regularly—lost to someone who only played occasionally?
So even gaming… required talent?!
Shen Jueshu tossed the controller into her lap. “Are you free tomorrow?” she asked.
Sui Yu picked up the controller, looking bitter about her loss. At the question, she glanced up instinctively. “Why? Are you asking me on a date?”
Tomorrow was Saturday, not a workday—so that sounded very much like a date.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
When there was no response, Sui Yu suddenly panicked. She looked up and saw Shen Jueshu’s emotionless face and quickly chuckled awkwardly. “Kidding, just kidding. So what’s up? I’m totally free!”
She had already finished most of her tasks and was just waiting for the lab to be completed before she could officially start working.
“A friend of mine is visiting. Her research also focuses on inhibitors. I thought the two of you might have something to talk about,” Shen Jueshu said with her usual cool tone.
“A friend?” Sui Yu’s voice jumped a pitch before she quickly shut her mouth when she caught the cold look Shen Jueshu threw her way. She even mimed zipping her lips—but her thoughts were racing.
Wait… Shen Jueshu has other friends besides Li Jiang?
In the book, she was described as someone proud and solitary, not the type to socialize or build close friendships.
Shen Jueshu’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You sound surprised I even have friends.”
Sui Yu blinked innocently and plastered on a flattering smile. “No, no—your friends are everywhere! A friend in every city, a bestie in every port.”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Why did that sound so off-putting?
But Sui Yu quickly zeroed in on the real point. “Wait—did you say her research is also on inhibitors?”
What were the odds of that? Could she allow herself a little self-indulgence and imagine Shen Jueshu brought her friend here specifically because of her?
“My earlier sentence wasn’t clear enough for you?” Shen Jueshu’s voice grew colder.
“Crystal clear! I just missed the point!” Sui Yu immediately clapped her hands over her mouth, eyes wide and a little sheepish, trying to look as harmless as possible.
But Shen Jueshu only grew more frustrated.
Why was this woman so fearless when arguing with strangers, but so meek in front of her?
It annoyed her so much she didn’t want to be in the same room anymore. Without another word, she stood up and headed upstairs.
Sui Yu scratched her head, puzzled. Wait… is she mad at me?
It felt like she was. But why would she be angry? Just because she was a little slow on the uptake?
That’s it? That’s all it takes?
That woman’s temper threshold is dangerously low!
After Shen Jueshu left, Sui Yu no longer felt like playing. She put down the controller and suddenly realized—they never agreed on a time for tomorrow!
If Shen Jueshu was planning to introduce this friend to her, shouldn’t she have said when?
But thinking of that cold expression from earlier, Sui Yu didn’t dare chase after her to ask. She didn’t even dare to send a message.
She rubbed her head in frustration. What’s wrong with me? Have I read too many novels? Is that why I’m instinctively terrified of her? Has that fear sunk into my bones?
The next morning, anxious about the meeting and aware of Shen Jueshu’s near-obsessive discipline, Sui Yu forced herself out of bed early.
After getting ready, she headed down to the living room to wait.
But since she got up way too early… she ended up falling asleep again on the sofa.
“What are you doing?”
A voice suddenly sounded by her ear, followed by a light pat on her cheek.
Sui Yu: “…”
She opened her eyes groggily and found Jiang Siyue’s face just inches from hers. With a bit of distaste, she reached out to push her away. “Please respect basic AO boundaries.”
But Jiang Siyue looked even more annoyed by that. “Did you forget we nearly shared the same pack of diapers as kids?”
Sui Yu rolled her eyes. Glancing at the clock, she saw it was only 7 a.m. She sat up, noticing Jiang Siyue was already fully dressed in casual workout clothes. “Why are you heading out this early?”
“I’m going to the company to get some extra practice in. I haven’t touched this stuff in years. Gotta sharpen up before the next round,” Jiang Siyue said, slinging her backpack over her shoulder and waving goodbye as she walked out the door.
Sui Yu: “…”
She hadn’t expected Jiang Siyue to be this driven once she found something to do. Compared to her, lying around the house every day, Sui Yu suddenly felt like a complete couch potato.
No wonder people say I’m mooching off someone…
She flopped back onto the sofa, staring at the ceiling with a long sigh. She’d been in this world for a while now, but hadn’t made much progress—hadn’t fully adjusted, hadn’t uncovered much of the truth, and hadn’t even gotten her work life in order. Compared to all those other protagonists in transmigration novels, she was seriously underperforming.
Why bother letting me transmigrate if you weren’t going to give me a system like those other leads?
They had access to plot summaries and spoilers—meanwhile, all she had was a handful of dead-end plot points. And since she’d altered the story so much already, even the few things she did know were basically useless now!
Just then, her phone buzzed with a text notification.
She picked it up lazily—and saw it was a message from an unfamiliar number, inviting her to lunch.
Sui Yu was instantly full of question marks. Who the hell is this, asking me to lunch out of nowhere?
She was going to ignore it, but since Shen Jueshu hadn’t come downstairs yet and she had nothing better to do, she slowly typed out a reply.
Sui Yu: Who are you?
There was no immediate answer. Five minutes later, her phone buzzed again.
131xxxx6784: You probably haven’t saved my number. It’s Gu Ying.
The moment she saw the name, Sui Yu’s face darkened. She threw the phone onto the sofa and muttered under her breath, “Unlucky.”
Had she not made herself clear enough back at the company? What the hell was Gu Ying up to now? Was he trying to mess with her and Shen Jueshu?
But it wasn’t like he had any proof of a real engagement between them—and in trying to smear her, all he’d done was ruin his own reputation.
She tried to ignore it, but her phone buzzed again.
Sui Yu resisted for a while but eventually gave in to curiosity and picked it up.
And instantly regretted it.
131xxxx6784: Don’t you want to know what I really want?
If you’re curious, meet me at 12:10 p.m., Blue Mountain Hotel.
Sui Yu nearly cursed out loud.
Did he really think that just by being cryptic, she’d definitely show up?
She scowled, debating internally, but in the end… curiosity won.
She got up, headed upstairs to Shen Jueshu’s room, and knocked.
“Are you awake?” she called out.
Not long after, the door opened to reveal Shen Jueshu in her pajamas, clearly just out of bed. She looked at Sui Yu coolly, her expression saying: You’d better have a good reason for waking me up. Otherwise, prepare to die.
Cold sweat prickled at the back of Sui Yu’s neck. She smiled sheepishly and asked in a small voice, “About the friend you wanted to introduce me to… what time is that happening?”
Shen Jueshu narrowed her eyes. “Why? Do you have other plans?”
“Uh…” Sui Yu coughed awkwardly, choosing honesty. “Gu Ying invited me to lunch. So I wanted to confirm your timing first.”
The moment she mentioned Gu Ying, Shen Jueshu’s expression turned even colder. “You’ve already agreed to go?”
Sui Yu laughed nervously. “I just… I want to know what he’s up to.”
Shen Jueshu paused, then said flatly, “Seven p.m.”
With that, she closed the door in her face.
Sui Yu stared at the shut door, blinking innocently.
At exactly 12:10, she arrived at the Blue Mountain Hotel.
The moment Gu Ying saw her, he smiled and said, “I’d prefer it if no one else hears what we’re about to discuss, so please leave your phone outside.”
Sui Yu frowned slightly, glancing at her black-screened phone. Her lips pressed into a thin line.
