Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 27.1
“Hm? President Li, you look pretty surprised to see Siyue like this?” Sui Yu asked deliberately, a teasing smile playing on her lips.
Li Jiang glanced at her, clearly catching the amused look on Sui Yu’s face. Her tone was calm as she replied, “Of course I’m surprised. I’ve never seen her like this before.”
Sui Yu nodded in satisfaction and awarded her a mental point for honesty. “Our Siyue can pull off any style—sweet or cool. You’ll get used to it the more you see her.”
Li Jiang frowned slightly, watching Jiang Siyue on stage introduce herself and then begin her performance. She sounded a little confused as she asked, “She’s planning to become an idol?”
“No,” Sui Yu leaned in and lowered her voice. “To be precise, she’s aiming to be an actress. The idol thing is just a stepping stone.”
Li Jiang: “…”
Jiang Siyue? Becoming an actress?
That thought was hard for Li Jiang to wrap her head around. Why would someone from the prestigious Jiang family suddenly want to go into acting?
But looking at the confident, dazzling figure on stage—so different from the girl she remembered—Li Jiang couldn’t help but wonder: If this is the real Jiang Siyue, then was everything before just an act? And if so, she had to admit—Jiang Siyue’s acting skills were impressive.
As Jiang Siyue danced and sang, her skills weren’t quite as polished as the previous performer, Mo Yu, but her stage presence was strong and captivating. Naturally, the judges gave her a pass to the next round.
When she found out she advanced, she broke into a radiant smile. For a moment, Li Jiang saw glimpses of the familiar girl she knew—but also felt a jarring disconnect. She just couldn’t reconcile this bold performer with the sweet, clingy Jiang Siyue from before.
After each contestant advanced, the judges would ask them a few random questions.
The main judge in the center smiled and asked, “Miss Jiang, what made you decide to join our competition?”
Jiang Siyue turned to face the judges, then looked toward the contestants’ area. Her smile grew bolder and more playful as she winked. “Don’t you think the other contestants are gorgeous? I just wanted to sneak in for a closer look!”
She didn’t mention anything about gaining exposure or building her fan base—she stuck to the public image her company had carefully crafted for her. It wasn’t exactly a fake persona, just a slight exaggeration of her usual self. Her agent had said it best: “Don’t present yourself as some flawless idol. Keep the same vibe as before—it’ll hurt less if you ever get caught in a scandal.”
The audience burst into laughter.
“So you’re here to collect wives?!” someone in the audience shouted.
Jiang Siyue’s eyes lit up. She looked back at the contestant section, where several beautiful girls were giggling, and raised her voice, clearly getting carried away. “If that’s possible, that would be perfect!”
Down below, Sui Yu’s face darkened. Why did that sound like she actually meant it? Was this girl daydreaming about her own little harem already?
Even though people had heard stories about Jiang Siyue’s boldness, it was still surprising to hear her say something like that in front of a live audience. Most people took it as a joke—some fans even hoped their idols would get close to her. After all, if Jiang Siyue liked them, they might gain some major connections.
When Jiang Siyue finished her performance and walked off stage, Sui Yu stood up to head backstage. Just as she did, Li Jiang also stood up.
Sui Yu stopped, turned to her, and raised an eyebrow. “Why are you following me?”
Don’t tell me… she’s impressed by Jiang Siyue and suddenly having regrets?
Li Jiang replied flatly, “I’m going to find my cousin.”
“Oh.” Sui Yu turned back around and kept walking, muttering as she went, “Well, let me just say this upfront—don’t even think about hitting on our Siyue.”
At that, Li Jiang let out a faint cold chuckle. If you really liked her, the two of you wouldn’t still be in this weird not-quite-dating limbo.
The two walked backstage one after the other.
As soon as Sui Yu stepped in, Jiang Siyue came running toward her, eyes sparkling with excitement. “So? How was it? I did great, right?!”
“You did! I think your debut spot is basically locked in,” Sui Yu said with genuine praise.
Jiang Siyue grinned proudly, just about to keep boasting—until she saw who walked in behind Sui Yu. Her smile froze, her whole body stiffened, and her hand clutched Sui Yu’s arm tightly.
“Ow—!” Sui Yu sucked in a sharp breath, whispering through clenched teeth, “Easy! Calm down!”
Why does she still react so strongly whenever she sees Li Jiang?!
“Oh, oh, sorry!” Jiang Siyue quickly let go and started gently patting the spot she’d grabbed.
Li Jiang stood in front of them, watching their interaction quietly. “Miss Jiang,” she greeted evenly.
The moment she heard Li Jiang’s voice, Jiang Siyue reflexively looked up—then immediately stepped back several paces, eyes wide. “An Alpha?! Stay away! I’m trying to be an idol now! Don’t ruin my career!”
Off to the side, Sui Yu looked at her approvingly. Now that’s more like it—there might be hope for this girl yet.
Li Jiang: “…”
Watching Jiang Siyue back away like she had the plague made Li Jiang’s face darken slightly.
“So Sui Yu’s not an Alpha?” she asked, clearly not forgetting that just moments ago they had hugged on stage.
Jiang Siyue widened her eyes again, stepped forward, and slung her arm around Sui Yu’s shoulder like they were best friends. “Ah Yu is my childhood bestie—we grew up together. That’s totally different from you!”
Hearing that, Sui Yu nodded proudly and looked smugly at Li Jiang.
Li Jiang: “…”
Do I just not know enough about these two? Because they’re acting like kids right now.
She had already spotted Li Yi and Mo Yu and didn’t want to waste more time bickering. With that, she brushed past them and left.
As soon as Li Jiang disappeared, Jiang Siyue’s nerves instantly collapsed. She grabbed Sui Yu and pulled her to a quieter corner, asking her to block others from seeing—then she completely broke down.
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
“Sob… Ah Yu… I did okay, didn’t I? I tried so hard… but after this, there’s no way we’ll ever be possible again…”
She was crying so hard, nose running and all. Anyone who saw her in that moment would’ve said she looked truly heartbroken.
Sui Yu gently patted Jiang Siyue’s shoulder and handed her a tissue to wipe her tears. “You did really well,” she said. “If you’re going to end something, it’s best to do it cleanly. Besides, even if you hadn’t acted this way, there was no future between the two of you.”
If there had been any real chance, you’d have ended up in bed long ago—not crying your heart out at a club.
“Wuuuuh…” Jiang Siyue sobbed.
She knew Sui Yu was right, but it still hurt. This was the first time she’d ever been so cold toward Li Jiang, and she couldn’t stop crying.
