Bai Xinjian was assigned to the horror story department as soon as he joined the Transmigration Bookstore and was bound to a useless cannon fodder system.
“In every horror story, there is a fool like this,” the system explained the mission rules to Bai Xinjian. “He is ignorant and fearless, offending the monster without realizing it, causing the monster to eventually evolve into a high-risk species and devour him. Your mission is to become such a fool.”
“Really?” Bai Xinjian listened quietly, a hint of excitement in his voice. “Then let us get started.”
This kind of work was perfect for him.
Story 1: The apocalypse has arrived and an unknown virus has broken out. You are a beautiful but seemingly useless man kept at home by your husband. You begin to worry about your future after learning that your husband, who is on the front lines, has been sent to the hospital and may be infected with the virus, with his life hanging by a thread. Just then, a new neighbor moves in next door, an officer from a neighboring war zone. Although his rank is lower than your husband’s, he is young, promising, and has a bright future. You decide to find yourself a powerful patron before your husband dies. Bai Xinjian diligently completes the tasks assigned by the system but slowly discovers that the scent on his neighbor’s lover is becoming increasingly similar to the scent lingering on his dying husband’s coat. There is also the gardener at home and the infected passing by. The neighbor seems unaware that he has been surrounded and entangled by monsters from all sides.
Story 2: You have transmigrated into an infinite game. Because you have been weak and sickly since childhood, you have no advantage in the game. Fortunately, your childhood sweetheart, who has always secretly loved you, also transmigrated into the game with you. You have always looked down on this childhood sweetheart because he is just as poor as you, possessing nothing but brute strength. Unexpectedly, this becomes his advantage in the game. You use a little trickery to latch onto your childhood sweetheart’s coattails. The feigned affection driven by self-interest does not last long. After encountering a more powerful new love, you betray your childhood sweetheart without hesitation, pushing him off a cliff. Bai Xinjian claps his hands, turns around, and waits for his childhood friend, now a monster, to return and seek revenge. However, he looks down at the tentacle tightly wrapped around him, rubbing against him, and notices several other monsters vying for his attention. Bai Xinjian wonders if the way of revenge is different from what he had imagined.
Story 3: You are the school bully.
Every time, Bai Xinjian seems to notice the unusual nature of those monsters, but the system remains completely unaware of this. Whenever Bai Xinjian raises his doubts, the system only excitedly tells him that it is okay and that it is normal to have hallucinations after transmigrating into so many books. The system tells him that after completing these tasks, he will be promoted to the company’s outstanding employee immediately.
The system even knows how to make empty promises. Bai Xinjian tilts his head, looking at the tentacles slowly emerging behind him, and laughs. He asks if this is also an illusion.
The system screams wildly, warning of a high-risk alert and an escaping evil god.
Behind Bai Xinjian, the tentacles slowly wrap around him, leaving sticky, slippery marks on his snow-white skin. Their tone is filled with a satisfied sigh as they mention that after waiting so long, they can finally touch him in their true form.
Jiang Yi was frail and sickly as a child, but that did not stop him from being a sucker for good looks. To ensure someone could care for his chronic illness, Jiang Yi lived with his grandmother in a large villa next door to a very beautiful little girl. Jiang Yi adored her, often saying things like how pretty she was and that he would marry her when he grew up. He often cleverly gave her his favorite cakes, unaware of the furrowed brows she wore when she received them.
More than a decade later, Jiang Yi grew up. His family suffered a major upheaval and went bankrupt, but his health improved. Leveraging his years of studying abroad, he joined the Fu Group, becoming the executive secretary to the new president. It is said that this newly appointed president has an eccentric temper, is a parachuted insider, and is absolutely not to be offended.
On his first day at work, Jiang Yi was summoned to a dinner party by a phone call from the prince, with the implication that he needed to accompany him for drinks. Jiang Yi rushed over, pushed open the door, and saw the young man sitting in the center. His hand trembled slightly as he wondered how the new boss could look so much like the little girl he used to tease.
During the meal, at the suggestion of his senior assistant, Jiang Yi poured wine for Fu Shisui. The man leaned back lazily in his chair, his beautiful European eyes fixed on him, and suddenly asked why his hands were shaking when he saw him, given he once said he liked him a lot and wanted to marry him.
Jiang Yi did not dare to speak. After the dinner, the assistant stood with Fu Shisui at the door, secretly observing her boss’s expression, and asked if Mr. Fu and Secretary Jiang knew each other before. Fu Shisui smiled coldly and said that Jiang Yi had deceived his feelings.
The Rule Change: The Fu company has a well-known old rule that office romances are strictly prohibited. The day after Fu Shisui’s arrival, this rule was secretly deleted. Several months later, someone accidentally caught Secretary Jiang and Mr. Fu secretly kissing in the president’s office. Fu Shisui gently rubbed Jiang Yi’s lips and asked coldly when he planned to marry him and how much dowry he was prepared to give.
Jiang Yi stammered that he had not saved enough for the dowry and asked if the boss would give him a raise next month. Fu Shisui gritted his teeth and declared a new company rule: Secretary Jiang is strictly prohibited from being disrespectful or pushing his luck.
