A youthful college student wakes up four years in the future to find himself transformed into a cannon fodder character in a book. In the original story, his three “cubs” are destined to become villains who clash with the male lead, and he is dragged down by them, meeting a miserable end.

Ji Zhiqiu begins a happy life as a single father. In the mornings, he competes in “tea-art” (passive-aggressive banter) with his eldest son and wins! The eldest, annoyed by his father’s lack of “usefulness,” takes over the cooking. In the afternoons, he teaches the second son about the law. The second son eventually mends his ways, sets his sights on a career in tech, and prepares to let his father “live off his son’s success.” At night, when the youngest refuses to sleep and throws a tantrum to watch cartoons, Ji Zhiqiu, being an enlightened father, agrees. Come on, let’s see if you can out-stay a college student. Let’s see who falls asleep first!
Ji Zhiqiu completes his parenting tasks with flying colors and feels he has done a great job. Just as he is about to lie down and rest, he receives an invitation to a children’s variety show. “…” Which little brat signed him up for this?! The kids: We’re looking for a partner for Dad!
After the show starts, the other guests are wealthy elite families, top-tier celebrities who married young, or prestigious artistic dynasties. As the “contrast group,” Ji Zhiqiu and his brood seem remarkably unremarkable. Viewers expect a tragic drama of a single father raising three kids, but it turns out to be nothing of the sort.
The second son is smart and sensible; not only does he earn money to support the family, but he is also in charge of his siblings’ early education. The youngest sits like a little sticky rice ball, listening obediently to his brother’s lecture. Meanwhile, their father is fast asleep, oblivious to the world, and only creates trouble when he wakes up. The second son shouts in frustration: “Ji Zishen, can’t you control your father!” The eldest son walks out of the kitchen, leads the boy to the sofa, and helplessly coaxes him: “Be good, play with your phone for a while; dinner will be ready soon.”
