Li Sichen stared at the translucent blue screen in front of him, his brain feeling as though it had been put through a blender.
“You call this a novel?” Li Sichen’s voice trembled as he scrolled through the original plot of The Fallen Immortal. “This is not a plot! This is a list of crimes! Is there no law in this world? Is there no morality?”
The white haired man in the illustrations, Yu Huaixin, was the Sect Leader of the most prestigious immortal peak. But according to the book, he would be betrayed by his disciples, captured by the demon lord, and subjected to horrors that Li Sichen could not even bring himself to name. The original story was a nightmare of humiliation and despair.
“Host, you can do it! I am supporting you in spirit!” the System chirped with irritating cheerfulness.
“I am already here,” Li Sichen muttered, closing his eyes.
When he opened them again, the digital screen was gone. He was standing in a cold, dimly lit cavern. Before him sat a man draped in tattered white silk, his long silver hair spilling across the stone floor like moonlight. His face was pale and ethereal, yet marked with the traces of feverish exhaustion. This was Yu Huaixin.
“Xiao Chen, is that you?” Yu Huaixin’s voice was as thin as a thread, yet it carried a sweetness that made Li Sichen’s ears go numb.
Li Sichen’s protective instincts exploded. He rushed forward, discarding his sword and wrapping his own heavy cloak around the shivering man. “Master! I am here. I will not let anyone touch you again.”
Yu Huaixin leaned into the warmth, his eyelashes fluttering. A small, seemingly innocent smile played on his lips. “Xiao Chen is the best. I love Xiao Chen the most.”
He reached out a slender, trembling hand and gripped Li Sichen’s sleeve. His grip was weak, or so it seemed, but as he buried his face in Li Sichen’s neck, a dark, possessive glint flickered in his half closed eyes.
“Then Xiao Chen, would you be my wife?” Yu Huaixin whispered.
Li Sichen blushed and dared not look at him, his heart completely melted by the sight. He repeatedly reminded himself not to hurt this man, not to humiliate him, and not to let him repeat the same mistakes that led to despair. Yet, time and again, he could not help but immerse himself in the tenderness Yu Huaixin gave him.
“Xiao Chen’s embrace is so soft. I want Xiao Chen to kiss me.”
Li Sichen turned away to hide his face, crying internal tough guy tears. How can there be such a cute existence in the world? I want to protect him forever!
He had no idea that the little white rabbit he was cradling was already calculating exactly how to keep him in this cave forever. While Li Sichen was busy planning their rescue, his fragile Master was busy weaving a web of morbid possessiveness, ensuring his savior would never be able to leave his side.
